The Gardens

45 acres of mature parkland, formal gardens and open fields. Originally designed by Nesfield, the landscape was reworked by the first president of the landscape institute, Thomas Mawson. Historic vistas, a double haha and the main formal gardens are all being reinstated as part of a long term management plan to restore the grounds to their former glory.

Historically the grounds were open to the public for the Hampton Manor Garden & Horticultural Show run by the Gardener’ Society originally funded by Sir Frederick Peel. This was a major social event and attended by influential people from near and far.

The Manor is also complemented by a stunning walled garden currently cultivated by allotment holders from the village. The walled garden is one of many beautiful surprises you will discover as you explore the grounds of the estate.
